How it works
01

Share your works

Send us your collection: images and the reproduction rights you hold. No system to learn; we do the onboarding with you.

02

We clear & publish

We verify the licence, photograph at print resolution, and publish your own gallery page, with artists, statement, fair booth and all.

03

You earn

Collectors discover your works and order museum-grade prints. We fulfil and ship worldwide; you're paid every month.

What you get

  • A dedicated gallery page: your name, statement, artist roster & fair details
  • Your works surfaced in search beside the Met, the Art Institute & Cleveland
  • Discoverable the way collectors browse: by medium, period, region and colour
  • A print storefront with zero setup, and monthly sales reporting

What you keep

The largest
share.

We keep 30%;
printing is billed at cost;
the rest is yours, paid monthly.

  • You set the prices and choose which works are offered
  • No exclusivity: keep selling everywhere, leave any time
  • Every print ships with a clearance certificate: provenance & licence
The trust layer

openclearance: proof a work is cleared to use.

Every artwork and every print on Open Museum carries an openclearance record: a portable, machine-readable certificate of its rights status, taken straight from the source and sealed so it can't be quietly altered. It is the trust layer beneath every sale, and an open standard anyone can read and verify.

How a clearance is made
01

Read the source

The rights signal comes directly from the museum's own data, or from the artist or gallery's signed grant.

02

Decide, conservatively

Only clearly permissive rights pass. Anything ambiguous is held back: fail-closed, never a guess.

03

Seal & carry

The decision, its basis and a byte-exact hash are written into a record that travels with the work and every print.

What's in the record

  • The work, and the source it came from
  • The rights status: public-domain (CC0) or licensed by the gallery or artist
  • The basis: the exact field or signed grant that proved it
  • A verified-at timestamp and a byte-exact integrity hash

Built on open standards

  • Creative Commons & RightsStatements.org: the rights status
  • schema.org & Dublin Core: the work and its description
  • W3C PROV: who determined it, and when
  • SHA-256 & C2PA: integrity and signing
An open standard

Rights you can verify, not take on trust.

For buyers, galleries & museums composed from standards, not invented

openclearance verifies the rights a source states, at a point in time. It is not legal advice. Tier-0 records carry integrity (tamper-evidence); signed tiers add authenticity. The open specification lives at openclearance.org.
